今日は久しぶりにClevellyからBronte Beachへウォーキングに行ってきた。
右手に海を見ながら、Waverley Cemeteryの横を歩いていく。
この立派なお墓には、オーストラリアの詩人Marjorie Pizerが埋葬されている。
壁には彼女の「Remembrance」という詩が刻まれている。
この詩を読むと、ここをヘレンと一緒に歩いた日々のことを思い出して胸が痛む。

丘を降りるとBronte Beachが見えてくる。サーファーはもちろん、この寒空で泳いでいる人もいる。
ビーチでランチを食べながら海を見ていると、感謝の念がわいてくる。
生物の命は海から始まった。太陽の光に導かれ、陸に上がり、空気を吸い、歩き始めて、ここまでやってきた。今生きていることは、ほんとうに奇跡のようだ。
